WHAT IS CALISTHENICS?

Calisthenics is a set of physical exercises where only body weight is used to improve muscular strength, endurance, agility, mobility, body awareness, and balance.

The word calisthenics comes from the Greek where kalos means beauty and sthenos strength.

Currently, with the evolution of the sport, calisthenics is divided into three competitive areas:

STRENGTH

RESISTANCE

Skills (DYNAMIC AND STATIC)

Two of the great benefits of this sport are that it can be practiced in groups and mostly outdoors, which allows us to be in contact with nature and develop socializing and well being.

We have some advantages in practicing this sport as for example the cost-benefit relation, where basically the cost is zero and the benefit is a lot, it's not necessary to spend money in a monthly fee or in equipment, if your city has a calisthenics park that's all you need, as you can see or know, Faro is not an example of such a city.

The most known movements are the human flag, muscle ups, push ups, deadlifts, dips, pins and the squats.
