5 steps to increase your physical activity

Physical activity is the basis of a healthy lifestyle. Physical activity does not just mean maintaining a regular exercise routine. There are many ways to add exercise to your day so you can enjoy the benefits. Suffice it to know that the slightest movement, from the stand up table to the supermarket, is something to keep you active. Here are 5 steps to increase your physical activity:

1. Take a reality check: Be completely honest with yourself about your fitness. Start slowly. Many people tend to give up before any outcome because they set hard-to-reach goals. Knowing your level of physical fitness helps you set easy goals and progress.

2. Set a fitness goal and make a plan: Want to run 2 kilometers, but never ran before? Climb a flight of stairs without running out of breath? Whatever your goal, start with a plan. Create realistic goals and reward yourself. Try to schedule your workouts as you would any other appointment.

3. Get company: You are less likely to give up a workout if you know a friend is waiting for you. Look for someone who has positive and contagious energy. Someone with similar goals will also be great to keep the will to continue to train and proguedir.

4. Stay nourished: physical activity burns calories, and with it comes the feeling of hunger. Choose whole foods such as fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats. Eating in a balanced way will keep your energy reserves to the fullest and help build muscle. Water is also a great type of fuel. Your body does not work as efficiently if it is dehydrated, seek to drink water before, during and after physical activity.

5. Do not give up: some days will be easier than others. Life is not the same every day and sometimes you may miss a workout because you are sick or because you simply need a break. The key to continuing your success is not throwing the towel on the floor just because you missed a day at a workout. Progress is made slowly over time, then continue where you left off and proceed!
