Patellofemoral Syndrome

The Patellofemoral syndrome (PFS) is one of the most challenging diagnoses regarding to knee pathologies.

It is defined as a diffuse pain in the anterior, side or back area of the kneecap, typically aggravated by going up and down stairs, walking, jogging, squats or prolonged sitting periods.

Several factors may be at the origin of PFS, although the main are related to postural changes, which modify the knee biomechanics.

This resulting imbalance of forces will make the articulation to perform an irregular movement, which gradually will cause stress in the soft tissue and tear in the cartilage.

The pain associated with this disease comes from all the related tissue burden and not from the cartilage wear overload, since it is not innervated or vascularized.

It is extremely important early diagnosis and treatment! Do not waste more time come  know the source of your symptoms and what you can do to reverse the situation!
